‘The Masters’ programme is a new programme of events to be hosted and facilitated by Artlab Contemporary Print Studios at UCLan.Its aim is to explore and engage printmaking through expanded fine art practice. Each invited artist will give an artist talk followed by a one day or two day master class. Practical sessions will engage with student’s individual research methods, expanding their knowledge of traditional print process while exploring new ways of making under the guidance of invited professional cross-disciplinary artists. All are welcome at the talks but booking is essential for the ‘master class’ events.

Our first invited master is: Bronwen Sleigh – Bronwen will give a talk about her practice on Wednesday 11th April at 4.30pm at Artlab Contemporary Print Studios followed by a one-day master class on two-plate etching on Thursday 12th April. Bronwen Sleigh will teach a two plate etching master class focussing on the use of colour in etching. Participants will learn how to register two etching plates using traditional soft ground and will experiment with colour printing.

Spaces are limited and the cost of the day including all materials is £30.  Please contact Tracy or Magda to book – Artlab@uclan.ac.uk

Artists coming in May are:  David Armes and Emma Gregory.
