New research by Dr Carole Hunt has been presented in PR1 Gallery.  Carole has been developing prints on fabric in Artlab CPS as part of her project the Hidden Histories – Alternative Futures.  The exhibition was held at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library in November 2018 and formed part of the much larger arts and heritage project, Whittingham Lives.

In partnership with Lancashire Archives, the Harris and Lancashire Museum Service, the Hidden Histories – Alternative Futures exhibition explored the history and legacy of Preston’s Whittingham Asylum, from its opening in 1873, through to its final demolition in 2016. The overall aims were to examine the contribution that the arts can make to health and wellbeing, and to explore how visual art can be used to make visible previously hidden histories.

Asylum Narratives of Mental Health Care: Past, Present & Futureaims to further examine personal experiences with social, cultural and historical observations around mental health and care, through clothing, textiles, painting, photography, poetry and language.
